Grant is a black hoodie wearing, full stack security professional with a pedigreed past. Grant has 25 years of career experience and certifications as a leader, information security professional, Java/AngularJS developer, C#/ASP.Net developer, network engineer, systems administrator. Grant currently holds the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification. Earlier certifications include the CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), Microsoft MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), Novell MCNE (Master Certified NetWare Engineer).
Currently, Grant is utilizing scrum while working with development teams to resolve vulnerabilities revealed by static, dynamic, and manual application security testing. Grant utilizes his experience as a developer to eliminate false positives reported by the SAST, DAST, and IAST tools, and to provide the developers with actionable “defects.”
Grant was a highly motivated part of the military and served with the US Army’s 20th Special Forces Group, 101st Airborne Division, and overseas with the 2nd Infantry Division. He was also an instructor for the next generation of leaders at Ft. Knox for the regional ROTC Ranger Challenge competitions. Grant played in five consecutive Wounded Warrior Cup hockey games in Louisville for charity, earning over $40K for the wounded warriors at Ft. Knox.
Grant is very active in the local InfoSec community. He’s a member of (ISC)², ISSA (Information Systems Security Association), and the FBI’s InfraGuard and attends monthly meetings. You can typically find Grant at annual conferences such as Security B-Sides conferences in Indy and Nashville, DerbyCon, and the Annual ISSA Conference. Grant founded Gingsoft, LLC. in 2009.
